The next major change was to become initially technical, then General Manager of Oasis Insurance Company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, initially for 2 years but lasted 5 Ramadan’s!

 

He then became Managing Director of Anglo Georgian Insurance, Tbilisi, Georgia, later also MD of Anglo Azerbaijan Insurance Co, Baku, finally earning the title of Area Director to also encompass Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The purpose of this was to introduce insurance business from Companies involved in the construction of the pipeline from the Caspian Sea, through those Countries and on to the Mediterranean, plus those businesses who could benefit from being insured in London.

 

As the pipeline neared completion, Robert moved to become General Manager of Regent Insurance, the largest Insurer in Belize, as it combined with another Company.

 

Whilst arranging to move to Fuerteventura, Robert was contracted for nearly a year by Merton Council in South London (which includes Wimbledon Tennis) to introduce Risk Management into the Council, and employ Permanent Risk Managers. The Contract culminated in the Council, Police, Ambulance service and Fire Service acting in a co-ordinated response to an “incident”.
